The presentation uses the TC 2008-09 HOT tables as illustrations but the techniques for using the tables remain applicable. Below is a summary of the main differences introduced subsequent to the TC 2011-2012 tables.
The principal changes in the Transport Canada HOT guidelines for Winter 2011-2012 from winter 2008-2009 are:
Update to the HOT Tables individual cell
• On going updates to the holdover time as a results to continue research and development testing.
Holdover Times in Active Frost Conditions (TC 2009-2010)
• Active frost holdover times for all fluid types have been moved from the holdover time tables to a new active frost holdover time table.
Holdover Times for surfaces constructed of composite materials (TC 2011-2012)
• The Type I holdover time (HOT) table has been divided into two tables. Table 1-A contains the holdover times for aluminum wing surfaces and Table 1-C contains the holdover times for composite wing surfaces.
Holdover Times for Snow Pellet conditions (TC 2010-2011)
• The snow columns in all Type I, Type II, Type III, and Type IV fluid hold over time tables have been modified to include snow pellets.
Lowest Operational Use Temperature (LOUT) Table (TC 2010-2011)
• LOUT information for all fluid types have been added to the holdover time guidelines.
Operations during Ice Pellet Conditions
• Expanded and modified guidance material is provided for operations during ice pellet conditions.

Note that these guidelines are applicable to ALL currently supported Bombardier Aerospace aircraft including Learjet, Challenger, CRJ, GX and Dash 8 product lines.
