Learjet 60 and 60 XR Tire Pressure Checks

TAGS: None

The FAA has informed Bombardier that it plans to issue an Airworthiness Directive (AD) in early April regarding the Learjet 60/60XR. This is one element of a strategic effort to promote safety across the entire aviation industry with respect to proper tire inflation. The FAA will issue the AD against the Learjet 60 and 60XR Airplane Flight Manuals. The AD will require incorporation of a Temporary Flight Manual supplement which requires tire pressure to be checked within 96 hours prior to flight.

Free training packages are available to all Learjet 60/60XR operators and training organizations. It is important that all pilots flying these aircraft are aware of and understand the changes to the Airplane Flight Manuals. Airworthiness Directives mandate training on this topic.

CAE and Bombardier begin offering training on Global Express aircraft in Burgess Hill, U.K.

EBACE, Geneva, Switzerland, May 20, 2008

First European-based training program for Global Express aircraft

First operational milestone of the 20-year agreement signed by CAE and Bombardier in June 2007

CAE and Bombardier Aerospace began offering pilot and technical training on Global Express aircraft at the CAE Burgess Hill training centre in the U.K., marking the first time that training on Global Express aircraft has been made available in Europe. The program is the first operational milestone of the 20-year Authorized Training Provider agreement signed by CAE and Bombardier in June 2007, which designates CAE as Bombardier’s Authorized Training Provider for Global Express, Global 5000, Global Express XRS and Challenger 300 aircraft. In May 2008, the agreement was expanded to include Learjet 40/40 XR and Learjet 45/45 XR aircraft training in Europe.

The program, fully qualified by the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), utilizes Bombardier’s Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) courseware and incorporates the latest simulation-based training methodologies, such as CAE Simfinity™ tools. The first course in the program started in April, with the program expected to expand to full capacity by summer 2008.

“The introduction of this new program is a clear demonstration of CAE’s commitment to bring our training services closer to customers across Europe and the globe,” said Jeff Roberts, CAE’s Group President, Innovation and Civil Training & Services. “With a growing number of Bombardier Business aircraft operating outside North America, offering training in Europe has become increasingly critical. CAE will work with Bombardier to continue to meet the needs of this expanding market,” he added.

“Together, Bombardier and CAE have built a best-in-class, technically advanced training course for Global Express aircraft,” says James Hoblyn, President, Bombardier Aircraft Services. “We have proven to be a great team and look forward to continue working with CAE on other opportunities.”

A second Global Express aircraft training program is scheduled to be offered in late summer 2009 in Emirates-CAE Flight Training, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. A Challenger 300 aircraft training program is expected to debut in CAE’s North East Training Centre in Morristown, New Jersey in fall 2008.

CAE will also build and deploy a new Learjet 40/40 XR and Learjet 45/45 XR aircraft full-flight simulator (FFS) to the CAE Burgess Hill Training Centre in the U.K. and a Challenger 300 aircraft FFS in Europe (exact location to be determined) in the fall of 2009, marking the first time that training programs for these aircraft types will be available in Europe.

    TAGS: None

Dallas, Sept 26, 2007 — Bombardier Aerospace celebrated its first graduating class of Learjet 60 XR jet pilots and mechanics at its Customer Training Centre in Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) on September 21, 2007. The DFW site is the only training facility in the world to offer pilot training in a full-flight Learjet 60 XR aircraft simulator.

Over 200 pilots and mechanics have trained on the Learjet 60 XR jet Differences, Avionics, and Type/Initial courses since April 2007. Training is conducted on a full-flight Level D simulator – certified by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Joint Aviation Authorities – as well as a Bombardier-designed Pro Line 21 desktop simulator.

“This is a significant milestone for Bombardier training,” said Hank Blasiak, general manager, Bombardier aircraft services customer training. “We are committed to offering our customers the best training, service and support possible, using innovative tools and equipment, backed by Bombardier expertise.”

The Learjet 60 XR aircraft simulator features the advanced avionics attributes of the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite. The system allows pilots access to: en-route, terminal, and non-precision approaches; lateral and vertical navigation with automatic transition to the precision approach; flight plan management; multi-sensor navigation; maps and text data display; performance management; and 3D mapping.

In service since July 27, 2007, the Learjet 60 XR aircraft retains the extraordinary combination of value and high-speed performance of the Learjet 60 aircraft, while adding a state-of-the-art Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite and a redesigned interior focused on maximizing comfort and functionality in the aircraft’s stand-up cabin. The aircraft delivers outstanding climb capabilities, with proven fuel efficiency and low direct operating costs per nautical mile*.

Bombardier Customer Training offers full-flight simulators providing high quality professional training direct from the manufacturer. Customer Training Montreal provides training to business jet customers on the Challenger 604, Challenger 605, Challenger 850, and Global aircraft programs, as well as regional jet training on the CRJ200, CRJ700, and CRJ900 aircraft. At Customer Training DFW, business aircraft pilots and technicians train on the Challenger 300 and Challenger 604 aircraft, as well the Learjet 31A aircraft, and all current production Learjet aircraft models.

Challenger 300, Challenger 605 and Global Series – Cabin Management System Courses

    TAGS: None

The following question was asked at the last Customer Meeting at the Montreal Training Center on August 30th, 2007:

Question: Why doesn’t Bombardier have something in place to support operators with the cabin management system? We understand that the training has been cancelled. We shouldn’t have to pay to have a trainer on site to teach our people how to use.

Answer: Bombardier is providing web-based training for the Global, Challenger 605 and Challenger 300 interiors – 75% of this course addresses the cabin management system. A one-day and a two-day course is available free of charge to operators of these aircraft. For registration information, please contact ba_training@aero.bombardier.com. The Global Express, Global XRS, and Challenger 605 web-based courses are currently available. The Challenger 300 course will be available towards the end of the fourth quarter 2007.

CAE becomes Bombardier’s Authorized Training Provider for Global family and Challenger 300 aircraft

CAE becomes Bombardier’s Authorized Training Provider for Global family and Challenger 300 aircraft

    Paris, June 20, 2007

CAE and Bombardier Aerospace signed today a 20-year agreement under which CAE will become Bombardier’s Authorized Training Provider for the Bombardier Global Express aircraft, Global 5000 aircraft, Global Express XRS aircraft and for the Bombardier Challenger 300 aircraft. The two aerospace leaders will collaborate to provide state-of-the-art training programs for pilots and maintenance crew that will include Bombardier’s Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) courseware and will incorporate the latest simulation-based training methodologies, such as CAE Simfinity® tools. These programs will be delivered by both CAE and Bombardier to customers worldwide.

CAE will purchase a Bombardier-owned Global Express aircraft full-flight simulator (FFS) currently installed in Montreal. CAE will deploy this FFS and deliver the training program for the aircraft in its United Kingdom training centre at Burgess Hill, near London. CAE will also build a new Challenger 300 aircraft FFS and deploy it to a location to be confirmed at a later date. Bombardier will continue to operate one Challenger 300 aircraft FFS in Dallas, Texas and a Global Express aircraft FFS in Montreal, Canada. The two companies will work together to provide standardized training for aircraft operators worldwide.

“This decision is excellent news for our operators,” said Gary Scott, President, Bombardier Aircraft Services and New Commercial Aircraft Program. “High quality training will be available from both CAE and Bombardier with a much broader geographic footprint, giving the customer a complete choice of where to train.”

According to Jeff Roberts, CAE’s Group President, Innovation and Civil Training & Services, “Our goal is to move our training closer to our markets. With more and more Bombardier aircraft operating outside North America, offering training in Europe just makes sense. As we go forward, CAE will increase the number of training assets deployed in line with aircraft deliveries.”

Under this agreement, CAE will deliver full training for both pilots and maintenance crew – a key move for CAE in growing the maintenance business that completes its total training delivery capability.
