Bombardier Expands Worldwide Bombardier Business Aircraft Training

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

May 1, 2010 — Amsterdam

Europe: Learjet 40/45 aircraft Full-Flight Simulator (FFS) ready for training, Challenger 300 aircraft FFS ready for training by end of 2010*, Challenger 604 aircraft FFS ready for training in early 2011*

Middle East: Global Express aircraft FFS ready for training

North America: New Challenger 605 aircraft simulator acquired from CAE; Global Vision FFS ready for training in early 2011*

Bombardier Aerospace today announced the expansion of its worldwide training network: five additional Bombardier business aircraft simulators will be, or are planned to be, available for training in Europe, the United States and the Middle East by early 2011*. The announcement includes Bombardier’s purchase of a new, CAE-built Challenger 605 aircraft full-flight simulator.

The expansion will boost capacity and facilitate access to pilot and technical training for business aircraft customers worldwide and underlines Bombardier’s drive to provide its customers with the highest levels of service and support in the regions where they are based.

Bombardier is the only business and commercial aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to provide pilot and maintenance training services for its customers. “Training is an integral part of service and support at Bombardier,” said James Hoblyn, President,
Customer Services & Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace. “By making simulators available in more locations, we are increasing the number of training opportunities available to our business aircraft customers and increasing access to our state-of-the-art training programs and methods.”

Under Bombardier’s 20-year Authorized Training Provider agreement with CAE, the first full-flight simulator in Europe for Learjet 40, Learjet 40 XR, Learjet 45 and Learjet 45 XR aircraft was qualified for training in April 2010 at the CAE Burgess Hill Training Centre in the UK. A simulator currently in development for Challenger 300 aircraft is scheduled to be added at a CAE location in Europe in the third quarter of 2010*. This will mark the first time that training programs for both the Learjet 40/45 and Challenger 300 aircraft will be available in Europe.

“CAE’s ongoing partnership with Bombardier is a natural strategic fit, and these deployments extend training services to many new aircraft customers in locations that are convenient to their operations,” said Jeff Roberts, CAE’s Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. ” As well, we are pleased that Bombardier has selected to expand our mutual relationship with the new Challenger 605 aircraft program.”

The Authorized Training Provider agreement with CAE will also expand to include the Challenger 604 aircraft. A Challenger 604 aircraft FFS, currently housed in Bombardier’s Montréal training facility, will be redeployed to the CAE Amsterdam Training Center by the first quarter of 2011*.

In addition, as of April 19, 2010, Global Express aircraft operators in the Middle East have convenient access to a simulator located at the Emirates-CAE Flight Training facility in Dubai, further expanding the Global Express aircraft training program currently being offered by CAE, in the UK and in Dallas, Texas, and Bombardier, at its Training Center in Montréal.

Bombardier is augmenting capacity at its company-owned training centres with the addition of two CAE-built simulators: a Challenger 605 aircraft simulator at its Dallas training facility by the fourth quarter of 2010*and the first Global Vision simulator at its Montréal training facility by the first quarter of 2011*.

In June 2007, Bombardier signed a 20-year Authorized Training Provider agreement with CAE for Global Express, Global 5000, Global Express XRS and Challenger 300 aircraft. In May 2008, the first training program for Global Express aircraft outside North America began operating at the CAE Burgess Hill training centre, the agreement was later expanded to include training for Learjet 40, Learjet 40 XR, Learjet 45 and Learjet 45 XR aircraft in Europe.

All training programs use Bombardier’s OEM courseware and incorporate the latest simulation-based training methodologies, such as CAE Simfinity™ tools. Programs are fully certified by the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
