Middle East: Global Express aircraft FFS ready for training

North America: New Challenger 605 aircraft simulator acquired from CAE; Global Vision FFS ready for training in early 2011*

Bombardier Aerospace today announced the expansion of its worldwide training network: five additional Bombardier business aircraft simulators will be, or are planned to be, available for training in Europe, the United States and the Middle East by early 2011*. The announcement includes Bombardier’s purchase of a new, CAE-built Challenger 605 aircraft full-flight simulator.

The expansion will boost capacity and facilitate access to pilot and technical training for business aircraft customers worldwide and underlines Bombardier’s drive to provide its customers with the highest levels of service and support in the regions where they are based.

Bombardier is the only business and commercial aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) to provide pilot and maintenance training services for its customers. “Training is an integral part of service and support at Bombardier,” said James Hoblyn, President,
Customer Services & Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft, Bombardier Aerospace. “By making simulators available in more locations, we are increasing the number of training opportunities available to our business aircraft customers and increasing access to our state-of-the-art training programs and methods.”

Under Bombardier’s 20-year Authorized Training Provider agreement with CAE, the first full-flight simulator in Europe for Learjet 40, Learjet 40 XR, Learjet 45 and Learjet 45 XR aircraft was qualified for training in April 2010 at the CAE Burgess Hill Training Centre in the UK. A simulator currently in development for Challenger 300 aircraft is scheduled to be added at a CAE location in Europe in the third quarter of 2010*. This will mark the first time that training programs for both the Learjet 40/45 and Challenger 300 aircraft will be available in Europe.

"CAE's ongoing partnership with Bombardier is a natural strategic fit, and these deployments extend training services to many new aircraft customers in locations that are convenient to their operations," said Jeff Roberts, CAE's Group President, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. " As well, we are pleased that Bombardier has selected to expand our mutual relationship with the new Challenger 605 aircraft program."

The Authorized Training Provider agreement with CAE will also expand to include the Challenger 604 aircraft. A Challenger 604 aircraft FFS, currently housed in Bombardier’s Montréal training facility, will be redeployed to the CAE Amsterdam Training Center by the first quarter of 2011*.

In addition, as of April 19, 2010, Global Express aircraft operators in the Middle East have convenient access to a simulator located at the Emirates-CAE Flight Training facility in Dubai, further expanding the Global Express aircraft training program currently being offered by CAE, in the UK and in Dallas, Texas, and Bombardier, at its Training Center in Montréal.

Bombardier is augmenting capacity at its company-owned training centres with the addition of two CAE-built simulators: a Challenger 605 aircraft simulator at its Dallas training facility by the fourth quarter of 2010*and the first Global Vision simulator at its Montréal training facility by the first quarter of 2011*.

In June 2007, Bombardier signed a 20-year Authorized Training Provider agreement with CAE for Global Express, Global 5000, Global Express XRS and Challenger 300 aircraft. In May 2008, the first training program for Global Express aircraft outside North America began operating at the CAE Burgess Hill training centre, the agreement was later expanded to include training for Learjet 40, Learjet 40 XR, Learjet 45 and Learjet 45 XR aircraft in Europe.

All training programs use Bombardier’s OEM courseware and incorporate the latest simulation-based training methodologies, such as CAE Simfinity™ tools. Programs are fully certified by the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The agreement will ensure that European operators of CSeries aircraft have access to world-class training services right at their doorstep.Bombardier Aerospace, Lufthansa Flight Training (LFT) and Lufthansa Technical Training (LTT), today signed the first Authorized Training Provider (ATP) agreement for the Bombardier CSeries aircraft. The agreement will ensure that European operators of CSeries aircraft have access to world-class training services right at their doorstep. LFT is a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa AG while LTT is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lufthansa Technik AG.

Under the agreement, LFT will provide pilot training and cabin crew training, and LTT will provide technical training for Europe-based operators of the 110-passenger CS100 aircraft and 130-passenger CS300 aircraft, scheduled to enter into service in 2013. The new ATP will deliver training through an existing network of training centres in various locations across Europe.

“The anticipated success of the landmark CSeries aircraft program represents a strategic opportunity for us,” said Florian Hamm, President, LFT. “As one of the world’s leading providers of training services, we look forward to providing the high-calibre training that customers will expect for this ground-breaking jetliner.”

Both LFT and LTT will benefit from the use of Bombardier course materials while using their own instructors, infrastructure and simulator(s). They will employ the latest e-learning, classroom and simulator training technologies that will meet or exceed the European Aviation Safety Agency’s and other regulatory requirements. “The joint training approach of Bombardier, LFT and LTT guarantees operator-focused, state-of-the-art training concepts and techniques,” stated Holger Beck, COO, LTT.

“We are delighted to achieve this important customer training milestone so early in the development of the program for the CSeries aircraft,” said James Hoblyn, President, Bombardier Customer Services & Specialized and Amphibious Aircraft. “It speaks to our priorities and represents another solid building block in Bombardier’s ongoing effort to redefine its service network to better support operators in all its programs worldwide.”

Training services for the CSeries aircraft in Europe will mirror the training that Bombardier will conduct in the Montreal area, where the aircraft will be assembled. Training is expected to begin in 2013, in advance of the first delivery. Bombardier currently intends to pursue other ATP opportunities for other regions which will be announced at a later date.

The agreement fuels momentum for the CSeries jetliner program, which has booked 50 firm orders with another 50 options to date. Deutsche Lufthansa AG, the launch customer for the CSeries aircraft program, has signed a firm purchase agreement for 30 CS100 aircraft, with options for an additional 30 CSeries jets. On March 30, Lease Corporation International Aviation (New Buildings) Limited ordered three CS100 and 17 CS300 jetliners, with options on a further 20 CSeries aircraft.

About the CSeries
At time of entry into service in 2013, the CSeries family of aircraft will be the greenest single-aisle aircraft in its class. These game-changing aircraft will emit 20* per cent less CO2 and 50* per cent less NOx, fly four* times quieter, and deliver dramatic energy savings – 20* per cent fuel-burn advantage as well as 15* per cent improved cash operating costs versus current in-production aircraft of similar size. The CSeries aircraft will set a new benchmark in the industry, consuming as little as two litres of fuel per passenger per 100 kilometres in its more dense seating layouts*.

CAE and Bombardier are now offering pilot and technical training on the Global Express at the CAE Burgess Hill training centre in the U.K.

EBACE,  Geneva, Switzerland, May 20, 2008

First European-based training program for Global Express aircraft

First operational milestone of the 20-year agreement signed by CAE and Bombardier in June 2007

CAE and Bombardier Aerospace began offering pilot and technical training on Global Express aircraft at the CAE Burgess Hill training centre in the U.K., marking the first time that training on Global Express aircraft has been made available in Europe. The program is the first operational milestone of the 20-year Authorized Training Provider agreement signed by CAE and Bombardier in June 2007, which designates CAE as Bombardier’s Authorized Training Provider for Global Express, Global 5000, Global Express XRS and Challenger 300 aircraft. In May 2008, the agreement was expanded to include Learjet 40/40 XR and Learjet 45/45 XR aircraft training in Europe.

The program, fully qualified by the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), utilizes Bombardier’s Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) courseware and incorporates the latest simulation-based training methodologies, such as CAE Simfinity™ tools. The first course in the program started in April, with the program expected to expand to full capacity by summer 2008.

“The introduction of this new program is a clear demonstration of CAE’s commitment to bring our training services closer to customers across Europe and the globe,” said Jeff Roberts, CAE’s Group President, Innovation and Civil Training & Services. “With a growing number of Bombardier Business aircraft operating outside North America, offering training in Europe has become increasingly critical. CAE will work with Bombardier to continue to meet the needs of this expanding market,” he added.

“Together, Bombardier and CAE have built a best-in-class, technically advanced training course for Global Express aircraft,” says James Hoblyn, President, Bombardier Aircraft Services. “We have proven to be a great team and look forward to continue working with CAE on other opportunities.”

A second Global Express aircraft training program is scheduled to be offered in late summer 2009 in Emirates-CAE Flight Training, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. A Challenger 300 aircraft training program is expected to debut in CAE’s North East Training Centre in Morristown, New Jersey in fall 2008.

CAE will also build and deploy a new Learjet 40/40 XR and Learjet 45/45 XR aircraft full-flight simulator (FFS) to the CAE Burgess Hill Training Centre in the U.K. and a Challenger 300 aircraft FFS in Europe (exact location to be determined) in the fall of 2009, marking the first time that training programs for these aircraft types will be available in Europe.

Sep 2007

Atlanta, GA, September 25, 2007

Today, CAE and Bombardier announced they will add a new Global Express aircraft full-flight simulator (FFS) to CAE’s business aviation training network. This announcement follows CAE’s appointment in June 2007 as Bombardier’s Authorized Training Provider for the Global Express, Global 5000, and Global Express XRS aircraft programs.

The new Global Express aircraft full-flight simulator will be deployed at Emirates-CAE Flight Training in Dubai, U.A.E., to address growing demand in the Middle East. It is scheduled to enter service by mid-2009. It is also part of CAE’s broader business aviation training network expansion announced yesterday. Global aircraft training will continue to be offered at Bombardier’s Montreal training centre and, as announced in June 2007, will be offered at CAE’s Burgess Hill training centre in the U.K. starting in the spring of 2008.

“The new training program will bring CAE’s training network closer to the customer than ever before,” said Jeff Roberts, CAE’s Group President, Innovation and Civil Training & Services. “CAE will be ready to provide first-class training support, whether the demand is in North America, Europe, the Middle East or Asia.”

“CAE’s business aviation network is the ideal complement to our Bombardier Training Centres in Montreal and Dallas,” said Gary Scott, President, Bombardier Aircraft Services and New Commercial Aircraft Program. “The CAE network offers Bombardier customers more choice in more locations, with access to the same high-quality standardized training offered at our facilities in Montreal and Dallas.”

As part of the Authorized Training Provider agreement signed in June, CAE and Bombardier will collaborate to provide state-of-the-art training programs for pilots and maintenance crews that will include Bombardier’s Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) courseware. The programs will also incorporate the latest simulation-based training methodologies, such as CAE Simfinity® tools. These programs will be delivered by both CAE and Bombardier to customers worldwide.

Location of Challenger 300 aircraft full-flight simulator confirmed

CAE and Bombardier have confirmed that the location for the Challenger 300 aircraft full-flight simulator announced last June will be CAE SimuFlite’s North East Training Centre (NETC) in Morristown, New Jersey. This Challenger 300 aircraft full-flight simulator is scheduled to enter service by the end of 2008.
